Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is reportedly on his way back to Cape Town to play for the Stormers.
The two-time winning World Cup leader has reportedly signed a deal to turn out for the Stormers, the side Kolisi played for previously and where he made his name.
According to News24, the current Sharks player, who also turned out for Racing Metro in Paris, will join the Stormers after the current United Rugby Championship season, which will be towards the middle of next year.
Not the Sharks, who acquired Kolisi’s services a few years ago at a huge cost, nor the Stormers have confirmed the move.
Stormers career
Kolisi played for the Stormers between 2011 and 2020 before a move to the Sharks. He then played 18 games for Racing Metro between 2023 and 2024 before returning to the Sharks.
Kolisi earned his 100th Springbok cap on the Boks’ recent tour of Europe and he is in line to lead the Boks to the 2027 World Cup in Australia.
It is understood that the Bok captain wants to be closer to his children who live in Cape Town with their mother, Rachel.
The 34-year-old Kolisi, while something of a Stormers hero, will likely be in a battle with young rising star Paul de Villiers on his return to the Mother City.
De Villiers, at just 22 and a former Junior Boks captain, is regarded as a future Bok No 6 flanker, the same position Kolisi plays.
