Popular Nigerian comedian Klint Da Drunk has opened up on why he transitioned from music to comedy, describing the moment that shifted his career path.
In an interview with Naija FM Lagos, Klint Da Drunk revealed that he initially pursued music while studying at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu. However, after witnessing 2Face Idibia perform at a campus event, he realized music might not be the right path for him.
“I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day, he performed at a campus event, and after hearing just two lines, I left the hall. The organisers even asked me to stay and perform afterward, but I knew my style was different,” he recounted.
The comedian stressed that he has no regrets about leaving music, saying, “If I had known our styles were so different, I might have continued. But I’m thankful I didn’t. I like where I am.”
Before fully embracing comedy, Klint Da Drunk was involved in the music scene. He featured in the hit song “Obodo” by rapper Mr Raw and co-founded a music group with him. The group also placed second in the 2002 Star Quest talent show, narrowly missing out to KC Presh.
Since shifting to comedy, Klint Da Drunk has enjoyed widespread success, appearing in more than a dozen Nollywood films including “Men On The Run,” “Madam 10/10,” “Fast Cash,” and “Lost Kingdom.”
His story highlights the unpredictable journey of many Nigerian entertainers and underscores how a single moment of inspiration, or realization, can redefine a career.
