Popular Nigerian content creator and philanthropist King Mitchy has spoken out after facing intense online criticism over her recent charitable initiative.
Mitchy recently completed the renovation of a school within six days, a project that drew attention across social media. However, instead of widespread praise, the intervention sparked scepticism in some quarters, with critics questioning her intentions and attempting to diminish the impact of the effort.
In a detailed post shared on Instagram, the social media personality addressed the backlash and described the emotional strain it has caused. She maintained that the renovation was carried out from a place of sincerity, not for public approval.
“Yes, I renovated that school. I didn’t do it for validation. I did it because I understand what it means to grow up without certain privileges,” she wrote.
Mitchy also opened up about her upbringing, revealing that she grew up without her father. According to her, the only time she saw him was at the age of eight, when her mother took her to a prison to visit him. She said that experience, along with other childhood challenges, shaped her resilience and drive to give back.
The influencer expressed frustration at what she described as constant online attacks, stating that people often judge her without knowing her background. She added that the criticism has included insults and attempts to undermine her efforts.
Despite the backlash, Mitchy insisted she would not be discouraged. She said her past strengthened her rather than breaking her and affirmed her commitment to continuing her philanthropic work.
The controversy comes amid heightened scrutiny surrounding the content creator. Over the weekend, she was involved in a disturbing TikTok livestream that prompted widespread reactions online. Her management team initially announced her death but later withdrew the statement, confirming she was alive.
The sequence of events has intensified conversations around social media pressure, public scrutiny, and the responsibilities that come with digital influence.
