The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, on Monday, received a delegation from British Airways led by Alan Campbell and Moran Birger at his office in Abuja.
In a statement by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, the meeting provided an avenue for both sides to explore ways to strengthen collaboration between the United Kingdom’s flagship carrier and Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Discussions centered on improving passenger experience, enhancing cooperation, and ensuring smooth flight operations during the ongoing upgrade works at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
The British Airways executives reaffirmed the airline’s 90-year partnership with Nigeria, describing the relationship as one built on strong historical, cultural, and economic ties. The team also announced plans to celebrate the milestone in 2026, marking nine decades of continuous service in the Nigerian market.
Both parties further reiterated their commitment to improving Nigeria–UK air connectivity and discussed updates to the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) to promote mutual growth, fair competition, and the sustainable expansion of flight opportunities between the two nations.
Minister Keyamo commended British Airways for its long-standing service to Nigerian passengers and assured that the Federal Government remains committed to fostering an enabling environment for both domestic and international airlines to thrive.
