A group of Kenyans remains stranded in Cambodia after falling victim to fraudulent overseas job offers, a crisis authorities say continues to expose some of the country’s most vulnerable workers to human trafficking and exploitation.
The affected individuals travelled to Southeast Asia last year in search of employment, despite government warnings issued after dozens of Kenyans were rescued from scam compounds in Myanmar.
Some Kenyans say they are now trapped in immigration detention, fearing they could be returned to the very criminal networks that previously exploited them.
