Kelechi Iheanacho is reportedly nearing a full return to competitive action after an extended spell on the sidelines dealing with an injury.
The Nigerian international has not featured for The Hoops since he sustained a hamstring injury during the UEFA Europa League fixture against Sturm Graz back in October.
The forward recently returned to full training and was named as an unused substitute during Celtic’s 2-1 defeat to Hearts last weekend. The club’s management, identified only as Nancy, indicated that the forward will be gradually integrated back into playing time.
Nancy provided an update on Iheanacho’s recovery process:
“He has trained well. After that, he needs minutes. It has been a long time, two months since he really played,” he was quoted by the Daily Record. “The way we work the players who have not played regularly we try to get them through physical work to get back into the rhythm.”
The 29-year-old is anticipated to feature in Celtic’s UEFA Europa League clash against AS Roma tonight. Iheanacho joined Celtic Park on a free transfer during the summer window.
