Katsina United Technical Adviser Azeez Mohammed commended his players after they successfully executed his game plan to secure a valuable away point in their Matchday 17 encounter against Ikorodu City. The Chanji Boys held their hosts to a 0-0 draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Monday.
Mohammed immediately expressed deep satisfaction with the result of the tough fixture. The coach highlighted the importance of his players following instructions precisely to avoid defeat in the country’s economic hub.
“Before the game i told my boys that if they played according to my instructions,we will not lose in Lagos, what happened last season is a mistake and we have corrected it,” Mohammed told Nigerian Players Gallery.
While a draw was the outcome, Mohammed revealed the team’s ambition was even higher, but he accepted the point as a positive result on the road.
“We gave everything to go away with the three points, but it doesn’t go as we plan. I’m glad we are going back to katsina with a point.”
Looking ahead, Mohammed confirmed the team will immediately return home to prepare for their next match, committing the squad to an aggressive mentality for the rest of the season: “We will go back home and prepare for our next home match,we are playing every game like a final,we want to do something better this season,” he added.
Katsina United will now host Rivers United FC at home this coming Sunday as they aim to build momentum from their disciplined away performance.
