Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has highlighted his link-up with Serge Gnabry as a key factor in frustrating Chelsea’s press during their UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday night.
The Bundesliga champions secured a 3-1 victory at the Allianz Arena, with Kane scoring twice and a Trevor Chalobah own goal sealing the win.
Reflecting on the performance, Kane explained how their movement off the ball made it difficult for Chelsea to close them down.
“I think possession was key, finding the right angle, helping each other,” Kane told reporters after the game. “Serge and I often drop deep to make it tough for them [Chelsea] to press. The longer the game went on, the more tired they looked.
“Spaces opened up and we were able to use them. It was a hard, physical game, but I’m really happy.”
With the European victory secured, Bayern will now turn their focus to domestic duties as they prepare to face Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga this weekend.
