Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦985.9 billion into law, with the education sector receiving the largest allocation of 25 per cent. The ceremony took place at the Council Chambers of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
Describing the financial plan as a reflection of his administration’s commitment to consolidating achievements while laying a stronger foundation for sustainable growth, Sani said the 2026 budget, titled “Budget of Consolidation of Transformation for Inclusive Development”, prioritises capital investment to accelerate development across the state.
According to the governor, ₦698.9 billion, representing 70.9 per cent of the total budget, is earmarked for capital expenditure to drive infrastructure projects, economic expansion, and improved service delivery. Recurrent expenditure stands at ₦287 billion, or 29.1 per cent, to ensure the smooth running of essential government services.
Highlighting sectoral priorities, Governor Sani said education was allocated 25 per cent of the budget, reflecting its critical role in human capital development. “We believe that knowledge is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and securing the future of our children,” he said.
Infrastructure development and rural transformation also received 25 per cent of the budget, underscoring the government’s determination to improve connectivity, open up rural communities, and stimulate economic activities across the state.
The health sector was allocated 15 per cent of the budget, a move the governor said reflects the administration’s belief that a healthy population is essential for productivity and human dignity.
Agriculture and food security received 11.65 per cent of the budget to strengthen food production, empower farmers, and boost the local economy.
Governor Sani described the 2026 budget as a blueprint for sustainable growth, inclusion, and social development, aimed at delivering tangible improvements to the lives of Kaduna residents.
