The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, Elder Patrick Ambut, has dismissed reports of his suspension from the party, describing them as false, malicious, and politically motivated attempts to destabilize the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement personally signed on Tuesday, Ambut urged party members and the public to ignore the fake suspension letter circulating on social media, insisting that it did not originate from any legitimate organ of the ADC.
“I remain the authentic and duly elected chairman of the party in Kaduna State,” he affirmed. “The so-called suspension letter is laughable and baseless. It is a desperate move by political detractors who want to cause disunity and crisis within our ranks.”
Ambut described the move as a deliberate effort by enemies of the party, both within and outside, to sow discord and weaken the ADC’s growing influence in the state.
“The document in circulation lacks credibility and substance. There is no justification or defined reason for such an action. This is pure politics — an attempt to embarrass our great party and destabilize its leadership,” he stated.
He reassured members that the ADC in Kaduna remains strong, united, and focused, emphasizing that no amount of blackmail or misinformation would derail its preparations for future elections.
Meanwhile, the State Secretary of the ADC, Oluwatuyi Victor Olayinka, corroborated Ambut’s position, revealing that Deputy Chairman Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha and a few others allegedly behind the rumour are under investigation for holding illegal meetings, falsifying documents, and unauthorized communication with external agencies.
Olayinka accused the group of acting as agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), whose alleged mission is to cripple the ADC’s activities in Kaduna State.
“The so-called suspension is a gross violation of the ADC constitution and completely null and void,” Olayinka said. “The Deputy Chairman has no constitutional authority to convene meetings or issue directives. According to our constitution, only the State Chairman can call a meeting, and it must be done through the State Secretary.”
He stressed that both Ambut and himself were duly elected by the party congress and remain the legitimate officers of the ADC in Kaduna.
“The Deputy Chairman’s actions amount to impersonation, abuse of office, and gross misconduct, all aimed at undermining party unity,” he added. “The leadership of the ADC in Kaduna remains committed to peace, discipline, and the rule of law. We urge all members to disregard this fake suspension story and continue with their legitimate party activities.”
Olayinka reaffirmed that the ADC Kaduna State leadership remains intact, calling on supporters to stay focused and not be distracted by “politically engineered propaganda.”
