Nnamdi Kanu has insisted that the court lacks the jurisdiction to try him, arguing that one of the charges against him, count 7, does not exist and renders his entire trial defective.
Speaking at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, the IPOB leader said he filed several motions ahead of the ongoing proceedings.
According to Kanu, a motion dated 11 November sought an order directing the prosecution to file its final written address.
Another motion dated 12 November asked the court to refer substantial constitutional issues arising from the trial to the court of appeal. A third motion dated 17 November requested his release on bail.
Kanu said he personally filed all the motions and served them on the prosecution. He added that he had entered his defence, but had not called any witnesses.
The notice of bail was brought under section 158 of the ACJA. Kanu is asking the court to grant bail on what he described as liable terms, questioning why he should remain in detention over charges he maintains do not exist. He also insisted that he did not jump bail.
