The Joint Task Force in the North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has intensified its offensive against terrorist networks, neutralising a suspected fighter and uncovering a covert medical facility during recent operations.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the operation’s Media Information Officer, Captain David Adewusi, and shared on the Nigerian Army’s official X handle on Thursday night.
According to the statement, troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, working in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), engaged terrorists during a fighting patrol in Gundumi village, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. One of the suspects was neutralised during the encounter, while others escaped into nearby forest areas with gunshot wounds.
The troops recovered six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles from the scene.
In a separate, intelligence-led operation, soldiers from 1 Brigade, alongside the Headquarters JTF OPFY Mobile Strike Team, raided a hideout in the Bingi Forest following reports that wounded terrorists were being secretly treated there.
The operation led to the discovery and destruction of a makeshift medical facility allegedly used by the criminal group. Captain Adewusi said the successful missions reflect the task force’s determination and swift response in dismantling terrorist networks and strengthening security across the North West.
