Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has opened up about how she met her husband, legendary actor Olu Jacobs, revealing that their romance did not begin with instant sparks on her part.
Speaking during an appearance on Your View on TVC, Silva recalled that they first met on stage before reconnecting on a movie set.
According to her, while many people were excited about Jacobs’ arrival on set, she was unaware of his reputation at the time.
“Yes, we met on stage, and when we met on a movie set, everybody knew the great Olu Jacobs was coming, except me,” she said.
Silva explained that they got along well from the start but only discovered his age after they had begun dating, noting that he appeared much younger than he was.
“For him, it was love at first sight, but for me, it wasn’t,” she added.
The couple later tied the knot in 1985. Silva was 24 at the time, while Jacobs was 44. Their marriage has since spanned decades and produced two children.
Reflecting on their enduring union, Silva credited her husband’s maturity and understanding as a major factor in its longevity.
“This older man allows you to get away with a lot of things,” she said, highlighting the dynamic that has sustained their relationship over the years.
Their love story remains one of Nollywood’s most admired, standing as a testament to patience, growth, and mutual respect.
