Security agencies in Ondo State have arrested 99 suspects linked to various criminal activities following a series of coordinated raid operations carried out across the state.
The operations formed part of a joint security initiative involving the Ondo State Police Command, the 32 Brigade Artillery of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Directorate of State Services (DSS), and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed the development in a statement issued to journalists on Monday.
According to him, the intelligence-driven raids targeted identified criminal hideouts, black spots, and flashpoints across several parts of the state known for activities such as armed robbery, burglary, theft, cultism, and other related crimes.
Jimoh revealed that security operatives recovered several items suspected to have been used in criminal activities, as well as stolen property and other incriminating exhibits during the operations.
He added that the arrested suspects are currently undergoing screening and profiling, noting that those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The police spokesperson also called on residents of the state to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely, credible, and actionable information that could aid ongoing efforts to combat crime.
“The police will spare no effort in ensuring that all perpetrators of crime in the state are brought to justice,” Jimoh stated.
