Chelsea legend John Terry has confessed that his ultimate dream is to one day manage the Blues, though he doubts he will ever be given the opportunity.
In a recent TikTok video shared via Metro UK, the former England captain opened up about his long-standing ambition and the challenges that have kept him from taking the Stamford Bridge hot seat.
“I’m not sure it ever happens, to be honest. It’s my one last dream I have at the football club. I have done everything at Chelsea,” Terry said.
“The one thing that is missing is being the manager of the football club. That is why I went into coaching when I finished playing — my idea and dream was to learn my trade a bit.”
Terry, who spent 22 years at Chelsea, said his playing experience under top managers should count for something, even if some doubt his managerial credentials.
“When people tell you you have not got the experience, it’s difficult to fathom. I know I’d be good at it. Will I ever get the chance? I’m not sure,” he added.
The 44-year-old is one of Chelsea’s most decorated players, having made 717 appearances and won 15 major trophies between 1995 and 2017.
After retirement, Terry served as assistant head coach at Aston Villa from 2018 to 2021 as part of his coaching journey.
