Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has asserted his prediction that the Reds will ultimately finish higher than fierce rivals Manchester United in the Premier League standings this season.
The current table sees Liverpool occupying 10th position with 25 points after 15 games played, while Man United holds 6th place with 23 points.
Riise voiced his strong conviction to FootItalia:
“I am quite sure Liverpool will finish higher than Manchester United,” Riise told FootItalia. “Even though I have to say I do want United up there again, because we need Manchester United up there fighting for Champions League spots and stuff. “I really want Ruben Amorim to do well as well because I think he’s had a hard time since he came to the club and he still is quite stubborn.”
Looking ahead, Liverpool will play Brighton in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday, while Man United will face Bournemouth on Monday.
