A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Jigawa State has called on the party’s national leadership to take decisive action against what it described as gross indiscipline and anti-party activities by some members in the state.
Chairman of the APC Coalition Group, Saidu Ibrahim Uba, made the appeal in Dutse while reacting to last Sunday’s violent clash in Kafin-Hausa, the hometown of Governor Malam Umar Namadi, where two factions of the party confronted each other during a political gathering.
“We are compelled to address you today on a matter of grave concern, which threatens the peace, unity, and cohesion of our great party, particularly in Jigawa State,” Uba said.
He urged the APC national leadership to urgently investigate the crisis and enforce disciplinary measures in line with the party’s constitution, stressing that such actions would serve as a deterrent to members attempting to undermine the party’s unity and authority.
According to him, “The APC stands for discipline, integrity, and unity. It is unacceptable that individuals occupying positions of national responsibility will engage in acts that not only divide us but also endanger peace and progress.”
The coalition reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC leadership at all levels and expressed full support for Governor Namadi, commending his developmental strides and inclusive style of governance in Jigawa State.
Uba added: “We trust that the party will act swiftly and decisively in the interest of justice, peace, and party supremacy.”
The coalition also condemned alleged inciting, inflammatory, and derogatory remarks said to have been made against Governor Namadi and other APC leaders in the state.
It will be recalled that the ruling APC in Jigawa was thrown into serious internal crisis last Sunday following a bloody clash in Kafin-Hausa between factions loyal to Governor Namadi and those aligned with the Minister of Defence.
