American singer Jason Derulo has announced he will no longer be alone in a room with female colleagues, following the fallout from a nearly two-year sexual harassment lawsuit.
In an interview with journalist Graham Bensinger, Derulo explained that the case, which was dismissed twice in other jurisdictions, has cost him millions of dollars in brand deals and impacted his personal relationships. “I will never be alone in a room with a woman that I work with… ever, ever again. That case was dismissed twice. And I lost so many brand deals, relationships off of a story that was not even slightly believable,” he said, questioning why the dismissals were not widely publicized.
The interview coincides with news that aspiring singer Emaza Dilan has refiled her sexual harassment lawsuit against Derulo in New York, after similar claims were dismissed on procedural grounds in California and Nevada.
Although no court has ruled on the substance of the allegations, Derulo said the prolonged legal battle has already reshaped his professional interactions, making him more cautious when working with female colleagues.
