Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, widely known as Jandor, has announced his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jandor, who returned to the APC in March, barely two weeks after leaving the PDP, was the party’s governorship flagbearer in 2023, when he ran alongside Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele as his deputy candidate. He lost that race to incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Speaking with Vanguard during Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Jandor said his decision to return to the APC was deliberate and strategic, stressing that his political moves had always unsettled the Lagos establishment.
“As for Lagos State, I am offering myself once again to serve. I’m indeed running for the Lagos governorship race in 2027,” he declared.
He dismissed speculations about possible contenders within the APC, including President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and former governor Akinwunmi Ambode. According to him, the process would soon begin to mobilise support within the party and from the President himself to ensure the eventual candidate has a strong showing at the polls.
Jandor also pledged full support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing the President’s leadership as “visionary and progressive.”
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proven his capacity to lead this country with vision and courage. I call on Lagosians and Nigerians at large to ensure he gets a second term in 2027 so we can all continue to benefit from his progressive leadership,” he said.
The politician urged citizens to remain hopeful about the country’s future, expressing optimism that brighter days lie ahead for Nigeria.
