With a view to supporting candidates with disabilities in their pursuit of higher education, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its dedication to providing free application documents. This initiative aims to ensure that all eligible candidates, regardless of their disabilities, have equal opportunities to succeed in the upcoming academic year.
According to JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday and made available to TV360 Nigeria, the free application documents will be processed by the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) for candidates intending to sit for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
During a meeting with key stakeholders at the National Headquarters in Abuja, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede reiterated the Board’s commitment to the welfare of persons living with disabilities (PWDs). He emphasized that the initiative remains in line with JAMB’s efforts in previous years.
The categories of disabilities eligible for this initiative include, but are not limited to, individuals with Down Syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Prof. Oloyede stated, “To support PWDs, JAMB will issue free application documents to all candidates living with disabilities. To qualify, candidates must possess at least five credits at the O Level, achieved in no more than two sittings.”
Additionally, in a bid to further assist candidates with visual impairments, the Board will provide audiobooks in popular formats such as MP3, WMV, and WMA. These audio materials will be compatible with various devices that support audio playback, ensuring that blind candidates have access to the same study resources as their peers.
This initiative is part of JAMB’s ongoing effort to create an inclusive environment for all candidates and to empower PWDs in their educational pursuits.
