The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the commencement of registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session. The announcement was made on the Board’s X handle.
Registration Timeline:
Candidates will be able to register for the UTME from Monday, January 26, 2026, until Saturday, February 28, 2026. Exact dates will be confirmed later. The UTME exam is scheduled to take place in April 2026, with specific dates set from Thursday, April 16, to Saturday, April 25, 2026. Additionally, an optional Mock-UTME will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Eligibility Requirements:
JAMB emphasizes that candidates must obtain their National Identification Number (NIN) prior to registration. Furthermore, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to apply. For candidates under this age threshold, an intensive evaluation will be required to determine their eligibility for a waiver.
This assessment mandates that candidates achieve a minimum score of 80% in each of the following: UTME/A-Level, PUTME, SSCE, and the exceptional candidate assessment. It is important to note that the results for underage candidates will only be released after the completion of this evaluation process.
Direct Entry Admissions:
For those applying through Direct Entry, JAMB will begin the sale of application documents and E-PIN vending on Monday, March 2, 2026. This will continue until Saturday, April 25, 2026, and applications can only be processed at JAMB’s State and Zonal Offices.
As students prepare for the upcoming academic session, JAMB advises all candidates to stay informed and adhere to the stipulated registration guidelines to ensure a smooth application process.
