The former Treble-winning defender argues that United’s current midfield lacks the physical “engine” necessary to dominate elite Premier League oppositions. “I really like Carlos Baleba and think he could replace Casemiro at Manchester United,” Stam told TEAMtalk about players Man United should sign as Casemiro’s replacement. “I also like Frenkie de Jong, too, but it looks like he will be staying at Barcelona beyond the summer. Manchester United need a replacement that has good legs and the engine to run up and down the field and is very good with the ball.”
The departure of Casemiro will free up significant space on the wage bill, as the midfielder currently earns approximately £350,000 per week.
