Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has shared his confidence in Nigeria’s chances ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to begin later this month.
The continental tournament will run from December 21 to January 18 in Morocco, with top African nations set to battle for glory.
Nigeria narrowly missed out on the title in the previous edition, losing 2-1 to Ivory Coast in the final. Despite that setback, Iwobi believes the current squad has what it takes to go one step further and lift the trophy this time around.
Speaking about the team’s prospects, the Fulham midfielder expressed optimism that the Super Eagles possess the talent and determination needed to succeed.
Iwobi, while addressing AySuga Channel, said: “We were really close last AFCON, but the only way we can improve on the last AFCON is to win it.”
He added that the squad is fully equipped to target the title, stating: “We have the players to do it, we believe we can, we just have to prove it.”
With the tournament fast approaching, Iwobi’s remarks reflect a renewed sense of ambition within the Nigerian camp as they aim for continental supremacy once again.
