Israeli military believes it has assassinated Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani, according to Israeli media reports on Tuesday.
However, Iranian media released on Tuesday Ali Larijani’s handwritten letter amid reports about his death.
Ali Larijani is the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also claimed on Tuesday that it had carried out precision airstrikes in Tehran, killing Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Basij volunteer force.
The Israeli military said that Soleimani had held this position for the past six years, and that the killing was another “major blow” to Iran’s security command and control system. Iran has not yet responded to Israel’s claims.
