Amid escalating tensions, Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has presented three conditions to the U.S. and Israel to end the ongoing war, discussed during meetings with leaders of Russia and Pakistan.
Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, said the conflict can only be brought to a negotiated end if the United States and Israel meet specific demands, signalling Tehran’s position as the war enters its third week. The conditions were shared in a post on the social media platform X and reinforced in diplomatic talks with leaders from Russia and Pakistan.
Pezeshkian said Tehran remains committed to regional peace but insists that three key prerequisites must be met – recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations for damages from the conflict and firm international guarantees against future military aggression.
The demands come amid a broader and intensifying war that began on 28 February 2026, when coordinated airstrikes by the United States and Israel targeted Iranian military facilities, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other officials.
Iran responded with missile and drone attacks against U.S. bases, Israeli territory and other targets across the region, contributing to disruptions in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, where oil shipping has sharply declined, pushing global energy prices higher.
Both sides have traded blows in a conflict that has drawn international concern over rising civilian and military casualties, economic impacts and the risk of wider regional destabilisation.
