Residents of Yobe State participating in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise have until December 10 to complete the first phase of their physical registration, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi, announced this in a statement issued in Damaturu on Wednesday.
He explained that the display of the preliminary register of voters for claims and objections would take place from December 15 to 21, giving registrants the opportunity to correct errors in their biodata, including names, wards, and National Identification Numbers.
According to him, December 21 has been set aside specifically for addressing complaints arising from the claims and objections submitted during the display period.
Abdullahi added that the second phase of the in-person continuous voter registration exercise is scheduled to begin on January 5, 2026.
He recalled that the ongoing CVR began on August 18 with online registration, while the physical (in-person) phase commenced a week later, on August 25.
The REC stressed that voter registration and the production of an accurate voter register remain fundamental to Nigeria’s electoral process.
“Section 10 of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) mandates the Commission to conduct the registration of voters on a continuous basis”, he noted, reaffirming INEC’s commitment to ensuring credible and inclusive elections.
