
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than eight million Nigerians have completed online registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country.
According to fresh data released by the Commission for the 9th week of registration (October 13–19, 2025), a total of 8,003,196 online entries have been recorded so far.
Women, Youths Lead Voter Registration Drive
The data shows that women slightly outnumber men among new registrants, accounting for 4,190,890 (52.37%), while 3,812,306 (47.63%) are male.
Young Nigerians aged 18–34 make up the majority, with 5,533,514 registrations (69.14%), followed by middle-aged citizens (35–49 years) at 1,678,212 (20.97%). Those aged 50–69 years account for 704,866 (8.81%) of registrants.
Occupational data reveals that students continue to dominate, with 2,018,967 entries (25.23%), followed by business professionals at 1,659,690 (20.74%). Meanwhile, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) make up 182,718 registrants (2.29%).
State-by-State Breakdown
Imo State leads in online pre-registration with 826,850 entries (10.32%), followed by Lagos State with 604,619 (7.56%) and Ogun State with 510,062 (6.37%).
At the lower end, Yobe State recorded the fewest registrations with just 2,714 entries (0.03%).
INEC also confirmed that registration remains suspended in Anambra State under Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, pending the conclusion of the November 8 governorship election.
Over 1.7 Million Complete Both Online and Physical Registration
The Commission further disclosed that 1,710,450 Nigerians have completed both online pre-registration and the mandatory physical biometric capture.
Of this number, 956,566 finalized their registration online, while 753,884 completed the process at designated physical centres nationwide.
Youth participation remains dominant, with 1,261,288 registrants aged 18–34 (73.74%). Women continue to lead with 945,305 (55.27%), compared to 765,145 men (44.73%), while PWDs account for 24,207 (1.41%).
Osun, FCT, and Lagos Top Completed Registrations
In terms of completed registrations, Osun State tops the list with 151,593, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 106,855, and Lagos State with 85,831. Other notable figures include Kano (96,280), Imo (90,469), and Rivers (28,507).
INEC Begins Data Validation to Eliminate Duplicates
INEC reiterated that all figures are preliminary and subject to verification through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) — a process designed to detect and remove multiple or invalid registrations before final certification.
“The Commission remains committed to ensuring a credible, transparent, and inclusive voter registration process as we prepare for future elections,” an INEC official said.
