As Nigeria marked its 65th Independence anniversary, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered a stirring call to action, urging citizens to embrace productivity, innovation, and enterprise as the pillars of national progress.
In his nationwide broadcast on Wednesday, the President declared that Nigeria must evolve into a nation of producers rather than remain dependent on consumption.
“We must all turn on the taps of productivity, innovation, and enterprise—just as the Ministry of Interior has done by streamlining passport processing,” Tinubu said. “I urge our sub-national governments to join in the task of nation-building. Let us be producers, not just consumers.”
The President emphasized agriculture, manufacturing, and homegrown patronage as key drivers of economic renewal:
“Let us farm our land and build factories to process our produce.”
“Let us patronise Made-in-Nigeria goods. I say, Nigeria first.”
“Let us pay our taxes faithfully, for nation-building is a collective responsibility.”
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to fixing the “plumbing” of the economy while citizens contribute through enterprise and accountability.
“Our government will continue to play its part, but every Nigerian must also rise to the occasion. Together, we can reposition this country among the leading nations of the world,” he affirmed.
The President’s message blended a patriotic appeal with a practical roadmap—urging Nigerians to till the soil, build industries, support local products, and sustain the economy through civic responsibility.
