The Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led by Samuel Anyanwu, has officially endorsed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the party’s national leader.
The endorsement came during a stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri, convened by the State Chairman, Austin Nwachukwu, and attended by party elders, elected officials, and key stakeholders from across the state.
In his address, Nwachukwu affirmed the chapter’s commitment to the PDP constitution, internal democracy, and the principles that have guided the party through successive political cycles. He added that the state chapter remains united despite recent national political tensions.
A unanimous motion in support of Wike was passed, with stakeholders highlighting his long-standing contributions to the party, including his role in expanding the PDP from controlling four states in 2015 to 16 in subsequent years.
Wike was described as a stabilising force whose leadership has been instrumental in the party’s survival, reorganisation, and continued growth.
