Celtic suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Sporting Braga in the Europa League after Kelechi Iheanacho saw a goal controversially disallowed for handball.
With the Scottish champions already trailing to Ricardo Horta’s long-range strike, Iheanacho thought he had levelled shortly before half-time. But following a lengthy VAR check, the Nigerian forward’s finish was chalked off, despite replays appearing to show the ball had struck his face rather than his arm.
Brendan Rodgers was left frustrated by the decision.
“There’s absolutely no way from every angle you look at that he’s touched it,” the Celtic manager said.
“So it’s hit his face, he’s gone away and finished it really well. That’s a big moment in the game for us.”
Braga wrapped up victory late on when Gabri Martinez fired in with 10 minutes remaining, leaving Celtic bottom of their group after two defeats in three matches.
