The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC, reported a sharp rise in voter registration numbers, signaling growing public participation in the ongoing exercise.
The latest figures, released Friday, reflect data captured by close of business Thursday, April 9th, 2026.
Since the start of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration, ECVR, on March 30th, a total of 875,501 new voters have been registered.
But a closer look at the numbers reveals a significant shift in momentum. Between March 30th and April 3rd, the Commission had registered 344,316 voters.
However, in the six days that followed, from April 4th to April 9th, that number surged to 531,185 new registrations.
This marks a substantial increase in daily turnout, pointing to an accelerating voter registration trend. Meanwhile, 49,502 voters have applied for transfers, while 1,066 have updated their registration details.
The Commission has reiterated that the exercise is ongoing daily, including weekends and public holidays.
