
British actor and Hollywood star Idris Elba has described Lagos as “the most amazing city in the world,” highlighting the city’s vibrant energy and pool of creative talent.
Speaking at the TIFF Tribute Awards, Elba reflected on his experience filming Dust to Dreams in Lagos alongside singer Seal, who performed with his Nigerian accent for the first time.
“Lagos, if you’ve never been, it’s the most amazing place, city in the world. I had a great time. The talent there is incredible,” Elba said.
Of Sierra Leonean and Ghanaian descent, Elba is a celebrated actor with a Golden Globe Award, three BAFTA nominations, and six Emmy nominations. In 2016, he was named among Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
His praise for Lagos comes amid growing attention on Nigeria’s creative industries, including film and music, attracting both local and international talent.
