The names of the 177 people abducted from ECWA Church and Cherubim and Seraphim Churches 1 and 2 in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Sunday, have been made public. The list reveals the scale of the tragedy, showing entire families forcibly taken from their homes and places of worship, leaving the community traumatized and depleted of able-bodied residents.
The raid comes less than a week after the community paid 2.6 million naira to secure the release of 20 residents abducted in a previous incident. Analysis of the names shows that multiple households were entirely kidnapped. For instance, the Jonathan family lost 12 members, the Amos family 13, Marcus Makudi’s family 10, Ishaya and Danisa families 7 each, Bawa 6, and both Danjuma and Musa families lost 5 members each. Other households saw 2 to 4 members taken.
The victims range widely in age. The oldest is 71-year-old Augustina Matthew, while the youngest, 6-year-old Salvation Idris, is a child. Other abducted children include Likita Amos, 6, Jumota Idris, 7, Tessie Amos, 8, and Yahaya Joshua, 9. Several 10-year-olds, including Susana Idris, Sinta Amos, Hezebah Jonathan, and Hezekiah Jonathan, are also among the kidnapped.
