Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has stirred reactions after sharing a cryptic post on his Instagram story, appearing to address recent on-field tensions and showing support for Victor Osimhen.
The Chippa United shot-stopper wrote:
“I never fake care anyone.
What I give, I give from my heart. Choose a good heart.
People change so fast… I believe you VO9.”
The message comes just days after Nigeria’s 4–0 win over Benin Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, where Nwabali was involved in heated exchanges with teammates Wilfred Ndidi and Calvin Bassey.
During the match, the 27-year-old appeared frustrated, first pushing Ndidi who attempted to calm him after an altercation with a Benin player. He was later seen arguing with Bassey as the team headed into the tunnel at half-time.
Despite criticism following his errors in Nigeria’s 2–1 win over Lesotho, head coach Eric Chelle retained Nwabali as his first-choice goalkeeper.
Osimhen, who scored a hat-trick against Benin to secure Nigeria’s place in the continental playoffs, was the only player mentioned in Nwabali’s post — a gesture that has sparked speculation about possible rifts within the Super Eagles camp.
