COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has dismissed claims by members of the United Opposition that his preferred candidate for an MCA seat in Kakamega was defeated in the recent by-elections, insisting he never campaigned in the race.
Atwoli alluded that the claims were an attempt to diminish his stature in the broader Kakamega political landscape.
“My MCA is a KANU MCA, not a DCP MCA, and even if the position was vacant in my own ward, I cannot reduce myself to campaign for an MCA,” he stated.
“I can campaign for my Member of Parliament, yes. I can campaign for my governor, my senator, and my president, but not an MCA,” he added.
DCP candidate Dickson Aduda Okwiri won the Kisa East Ward MCA seat in Khwisero constituency, Kakamega County.
