The Ministry of Education has released the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results for 993,226 candidates, bringing to an end weeks of anxiety among learners, parents and schools across the country.
Speaking during the 2025 KCSE results, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba Candidates can access their results online through the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) portal by following a few simple steps.
“Individual candidates’ examination results will be accessed online through a link on the KNEC website or directly through the URL: results.knec.ac.ke. Candidates will be required to enter their index number and any one of their name(s) as per the registration data for the 2025 KCSE examination. The results will be live and accessible immediately after the end of this function,” he said.
Of the 993,226 candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination, 492,012 were male, while 501,214 were female, representing 49.54% and 50.46% of the total candidature, respectively. This is the second year in a row since the inception of the KCSE examination that female candidates are more than male candidates.
In the 2025 KCSE examination, a total of 1,932 candidates (0.19%) obtained an overall mean grade of A (plain), showing an improvement from 1,693 candidates (0.18%) in 2024. Candidates qualifying for direct university entry with a mean grade of C+ and above numbered 270,715 (27.18%), up from 246,391 (25.53%) in 2024.
Those attaining a grade of C- and above were 507,131 (50.92%), compared to 476,889 (49.41%) the previous year, while candidates achieving a pass grade of D+ and above totaled 634,082 (63.67%), an increase from 605,774 (62.76%) in 2024.
National schools led in producing top performers, with 1,526 candidates achieving an overall mean grade of A, followed by Extra County schools with 197 and Private schools with 185.
