Kenya Revenue Authority has collected Sh73.2 billion in housing levy receipts in the financial year 2024/2025. This is Sh10 billion more than the government had targeted.
National treasury data shows that the levy, which is deducted at 1.5% of gross monthly salaries, brought in 115.82% of the target.
The government says nearly half of the money is yet to be spent, as construction projects under the Affordable Housing Programme are rolled out in phases. The unutilised funds have been invested in Treasury bills to safeguard them and earn extra revenue.
