Homa Bay Deputy Governor Joseph Oyugi Magwanga has resigned with immediate effect, citing what he describes as persistent and irreconcilable differences with Governor Gladys Wanga.
Magwanga says he was locked out of his office, stripped of official facilitation, and rendered unable to discharge his constitutional mandate, claims that now lay bare months of simmering tensions within the county executive.
The fallout comes amid a deepening political rift that escalated after the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who had brokered their 2022 political union.
