Uganda has taken a bold step into the future of home entertainment following the launch of the world’s largest 116-inch RGB Mini-LED television by Hisense.
The grand unveiling on September 19, 2025, showcased a fusion of advanced technology, sustainability, and community impact. Gracing the occasion as chief guest was Third Deputy Prime Minister Rukia Nakadama, joined by state minister for Primary Education, Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu.
In her remarks, Kaducu underscored the power of technology in reshaping education, particularly in preparing learners for a digital world. At the heart of the innovation is Hisense’s TriChroma RGB Mini-LED technology, which delivers exceptional colour precision, striking brightness, and deep contrast.
To complement the visuals, French sound specialists Devialet, together with Dolby Atmos, infused the device with cinema-grade audio that elevates film, gaming, and sporting experiences to new levels of realism.
Despite its massive display, the 116-inch TV is built with efficiency in mind. It consumes 20 per cent less energy than standard models and comes with a solar-powered remote control—an environmentally conscious move applauded by many.
Beyond redefining the living room experience, Hisense used the launch to extend its impact to the education sector. In collaboration with SmartElectronics Ltd., the company pledged 50 television sets to 50 schools across Uganda to support digital learning in mathematics, science, and the arts.
According to Kaducu, this initiative will play a critical role in bridging Uganda’s digital divide, while Nakadama lauded the partnership for blending innovation with social responsibility.
She noted that such collaborations between government and private investors are crucial in driving Vision 2040 forward. The Hisense 116-inch RGB Mini-LED TV has already earned international acclaim, including recognition at the CES Consumer Electronics Show in California.
Its introduction to the Ugandan market marks not just a milestone in home entertainment, but also a statement of how technology can simultaneously educate, inspire, and contribute to sustainable development.
