Former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore has shared how a relationship he believed would lead to marriage ended abruptly due to family disapproval.
Speaking during a podcast interview with Chude Jideonwo, Boma revealed that he had already made plans to propose to his partner last August. He said he intended to travel to the United States to purchase an engagement ring before returning to Nigeria for the proposal.
However, he said their relationship fell apart after his partner’s family rejected him, expressing concerns about his image and public profile. According to him, the scrutiny that comes with fame played a major role in their decision.
“It was an amazing relationship; we had a little bit of ups and downs, but it was perfect,” he recalled. “I thought we had a perfect relationship till the family got involved and said, ‘This guy? Hell no, impossible.’”
Boma described the experience as deeply discouraging, noting that he believed the relationship was strong until external interference changed everything. He added that public perception is often a burden entertainers must carry.
“If I were not in the entertainment or public eye, nobody would know some things about me. Once you come to the public, that is the price you have to pay,” he said.
