Former Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves has likened Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, praising the Cameroonian’s quality and composure in front of goal.
Mbeumo, who joined Manchester United from Brentford during the summer transfer window, has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Old Trafford under manager Ruben Amorim.
The 25-year-old has already scored five goals, playing a key role in United’s resurgence in the Premier League and their push back into Champions League contention.
Hargreaves highlighted Mbeumo’s mentality and efficiency, noting that unlike many high-profile signings who have struggled under the pressure at United, the winger has adapted seamlessly.
“Many players have come to Manchester United with big names and struggled with the pressure, but that hasn’t been the case with Mbeumo,” Hargreaves told Metro UK.
“I think his biggest attribute is that he gives real quality. He reminds me of Mohamed Salah in and around the box. When he gets the ball, he has a clear picture of exactly what he wants to do. Whether the finish is near post or back post, he almost shows no emotion.
“It’s just business in and around the box, and I love that. People talk about his goal-scoring and rightly so, but he is an exceptional football player.”
