The Best FIFA Goalkeeper Awards were presented at the ceremony in Doha, Qatar, with England’s Hannah Hampton and Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma claiming the top prizes in the women’s and men’s categories, respectively.
England international Hannah Hampton, 25, was named The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper. Her selection recognizes a phenomenal season in which she played a crucial role in two major successes:
Club Success: Hampton was pivotal in Chelsea’s domestic treble win, playing every match of their unbeaten Women’s Super League campaign and securing the Golden Glove award with 13 clean sheets.
International Success: She helped England successfully defend their Euro 2025 title, starting every game at the tournament, including the final, where the Lionesses defeated Spain in a penalty shootout.
Hampton expressed her gratitude and ambition following the win:
“With club and country, we have achieved so much, and there is still much more for us to go and get.”
She also thanked England manager Sarina Wiegman and Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor for their belief in her, and praised the fans for their vital support.
In the men’s category, Gianluigi Donnarumma claimed The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award. According to BBC Sport, Donnarumma played a crucial role in Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) first-ever Champions League triumph before completing a move to Manchester City this summer. He had previously been awarded the men’s Yashin Trophy alongside Hampton at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in September.
The ceremony also recognized outstanding goals:
Marta Award (Best Women’s Goal): Won by Mexican player Lizbeth Ovalle for her spectacular scorpion kick goal scored for Tigres against Guadalajara in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil in March. Ovalle now plays for Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the United States.
Puskás Award (Best Men’s Goal): Went to Santiago Montiel of Independiente for his impressive overhead kick from outside the box against Independiente Rivadavia in the Argentine Primera Division in May.
