Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has disclosed the content of his conversation with Real Madrid forward Rodrygo immediately following his side’s hard-fought 2-1 victory in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Guardiola witnessed his squad defeat Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Goals from Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland secured the win for the Premier League heavyweights.
Rodrygo managed to score the only goal for Real Madrid during the encounter against the Cityzens.
Speaking after the fixture, Guardiola revealed the essence of his exchange with the opposing player, confirming that he highly praised Rodrygo, calling the Brazilian international “incredible.”

“I went to Rodrygo and I told him: what a player you are… he’s really unbelievable,” Guardiola said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Rodrygo has reportedly endured a challenging campaign so far this season under Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso. The 24-year-old has faced difficulties this term, experiencing a notable dry spell in front of goal for the Los Blancos across multiple matches. Despite the current struggles, Rodrygo attracted significant interest from the Premier League during the last transfer window, though a move ultimately did not come to fruition.
