Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed that Erling Haaland belongs in the same bracket as football greats Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Guardiola made the remark during his post-match interview after Haaland netted a brace in City’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth on Sunday.
“We played really good, of course. Again, Erling [Haaland] was decisive,” Guardiola said. “It is a little like when you play with [Lionel] Messi or Cristiano [Ronaldo], you know? The influence is so big.
“Has he [Haaland] reached that level? You see the numbers of that guy? Yes, of course, he is at their levels of the numbers from Cristiano and Messi.”
Haaland’s double took his goal tally for the season to new heights as City continue their push for domestic and European glory. The Premier League champions will next face Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
