Goztepe midfielder Junior Olaitan has apologised to the club’s supporters after exchanging shirts with Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen following their Turkish Super Lig clash last weekend.
Olaitan, who came on as a substitute in the second half, swapped jerseys with his compatriot after the match — a gesture that sparked criticism from Goztepe fans, who saw it as disrespectful to the club.
Reacting to the backlash, Olaitan took to social media to express regret over his action.
“I have a long-standing friendship with Osimhen, who hails from Lagos, Nigeria. We met again years later and exchanged our jerseys,” Olaitan wrote.
“I offer my apologies to everyone for having done something that goes against the culture of this club.”
Osimhen had scored the equaliser in Galatasaray’s 3-1 comeback victory over Goztepe.
