Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, on Friday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa to brief him on the safe return of 183 worshippers abducted from the Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area on January 18, 2026.
In a post on X, Governor Sani said the meeting focused on strategic priorities for the state, including security, infrastructure, and developmental initiatives aimed at promoting stability and shared prosperity.
“I briefed Mr. President on the safe return of worshippers abducted from churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area,” he said, emphasizing that the successful rescue resulted from painstaking, intelligence-driven operations coordinated closely between state and federal security agencies.
“This outcome affirms the strength of coordinated leadership, institutional synergy, and the professionalism of our national security architecture when guided by clarity of purpose and unwavering resolve,” Governor Sani added.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his “ceaseless personal calls” during the two weeks the worshippers were held captive, noting that the President’s outreach provided reassurance and comfort to the affected families and the broader Kaduna community.
The meeting also reviewed key developmental and infrastructural projects across Kaduna State. Of particular significance, the governor highlighted the commencement of the long-awaited Birnin Gwari road project, describing it as a transformative intervention that will enhance security, stimulate economic activity, and reconnect previously isolated communities.
Governor Sani stressed the urgency of rehabilitating other major road networks, including the Kaduna Eastern Bypass, the Jere–Kwoi–Kafanchan road, and the Zaria–Pambegua–Saminaka road, all critical for regional mobility and economic integration.
He also commended the dedication and sacrifice of security personnel whose efforts ensured the safe return of the abducted worshippers.
Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continued collaboration with the Federal Government to deliver sustainable security, inclusive infrastructure, and meaningful development for the people of Kaduna State.
