Abia State Governor Alex Otti has praised Enyimba FC of Aba for their spirited 3-2 victory over Bendel Insurance in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash.
The People’s Elephants twice came from behind to claim all three points in front of their home fans, with goals from Abiodun Joseph (18’), Kalu Nweke (66’ pen.), and Chidera Michael (69’) securing the win. Insurance had stunned the Aba crowd with an early 2nd-minute opener and briefly led again in the 59th minute before Enyimba’s late surge sealed the comeback.
Governor Otti, who attended the match with members of his cabinet, revealed he visited the players at halftime to encourage them.
“Our boys responded with heart and determination, giving a remarkable account of themselves and ultimately emerging victorious,” Otti wrote on X.
He commended the fans for their passionate support, saluted Bendel Insurance for their sportsmanship, and lauded Enyimba chairman Kanu Nwankwo and the coaching crew for their leadership.
The victory lifts Enyimba to the top of the NPFL table with 11 points from five matches.
