Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board, marking one of his administration’s first major decisions since the end of the state’s six-month emergency rule.
In a statement released Friday by the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi Brown, the governor directed that all functions of the dissolved board will now be overseen by the Office of the Accountant General of Rivers State.
Members of the defunct board have been instructed to handover all properties and assets in their possession to the Director of Administration at the Pensions Office without delay.
The statement further noted that Governor Fubara will, in due course, constitute a new board to handle pension matters and ensure seamless administration in the sector.
The dissolved Pensions Board was among the parastatals reconstituted by the immediate past emergency administration, underscoring the significance of this decisive move by the Fubara-led government.
