Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has rewarded the Super Falcons with ₦50 million ahead of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against the Amazons of Benin Republic.
The nine-time African champions, who defeated Benin 2–0 in the first leg last week, will host their West African neighbours in the reverse fixture at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, on Tuesday (today).
The players and officials of the team paid a courtesy visit to the governor at his office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, on Monday.
Governor Abiodun said the financial gesture was to recognise the team’s inspiring performances and to motivate them ahead of their crucial fixture.
The decisive match is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. (Nigerian time).
