Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa has fired one of his aids for failure to adhere to instructions on violations against electoral law on premature campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Sule on Public Affairs, Mr Peter Ahemba, made this known at a monthly briefing at the NUJ Centre in Lafia.
Peter, who was responding to questions on why Governor Sule’s appointees have remained recalcitrant despite several warnings against premature campaigning, stated that the governor has sacked one of his aids who engaged in open campaigning despite repeated warnings against the act.
Arch. Ahmed Usman Seriki, Senior Special Adviser to Governor Sule on works, a former council chairman of Doma local government, was fired by his principal, Abdullahi Sule for daring him on open campaign openly campaigning in favour of the former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, who has shown interest in contesting for the governorship seat in 2027.
In another development, Ahemba said that the Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the planned Karu flyovers and underpass project before the end of its administration in 2027.
He noted that the state government has recently secured the approval from the Federal Government (FG) to construct two flyovers and an underpass in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The governor’s aide explained that the government had set aside the funds needed for the projects even before it was conceived.
He explained further that the Gov. Abdullah Sule-led administration usually ensures it sets aside money before it embarks on any project since its inception in 2019.
He said that the government would complete any project it has initiated and started because it does not believe in wasting money and abandoning projects.
He further said that the governor had directed the Nasarawa State Urban Development Agency (NUDA) to carry out a feasibility study and assessment to ascertain the locations suitable for the projects.
Ahemba disclosed that the agency was also to work out other details of the projects for onward awards of the contracts.
He noted that the Gov. Sule-led administration was determined to commence the projects and complete them before the expiration of its tenure in 2027.
